Q: As a professional woman always in the work place, I am constantly looking for new things I can wear to work that are the perfect balance between professionalism and fashionable. Do you have any suggestions?

A: Finding that balance can be a tough one, especially if you are a fashion adorer and want to stay in the trends without looking unprofessional. Lucky for you, there are plenty of options out there. Missoni’s cowl neck dress and the slasher short dress by Diane Von Furstenberg are two amazing options. And if you’d like to be a tiny bit more dressed, try Marc by Marc Jacob’s latest navy blue print dress or Tavan & Mitto’s gorgeous structured shoulder dress.

Q: I have worn jeans with everything for years now and feel that I am in need of some new and improved looks. When it comes to trousers, what are some of the latest fashions?

A: You have come into the trouser market at the perfect time, as trousers have taken on a whole reinvention. For a more professional look, try Limonade Pied De Poule trousers by Paul and Joe Sister. For a night-out outfit, you can be daring with a pair of leggings from Joseph or J. Crew’s new sequined slouch pants (which are one of my personal favorites)! Another hot trend at the moment is styling up a pair of slouchy fitted cotton pants, like the ones below from All Saints, with a tight white tank tucked in and a pair of killer platforms.

Q: I am looking for a new handbag that can be my statement piece for the upcoming season. Any suggestions?

A: Yes! There are loads of fun handbags coming into play at the moment. A main trend is the chain-link bag, which is not only fashionable but makes for a hands-free night out as well. If you are looking for something more mainstream, you can try Mulberry’s Black Margaret Mini or the beautiful beige fringe clutch by Miu Miu. For something more flashy, try the silver metal evening bag from River Island or Lanvin’s fall feather detail bag.

Danielle’s Fashion Question and Answers

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Question 1: I’m looking for a new, neutral color platform I can wear with a variety of colors and outfits. Any suggestions?
Answer: Grey is in this season and is a perfect color to mix and match with. It’s also much more forgivable than beige when it comes to dirt or any type of stain. Gucci’s Clemence Wedges are the ultimate grey platform of the season. For a more reasonable priced pair, try Pedro Garcia’s sling back pumps.

1. Clemence Platform Wedges by Gucci, £630
2. Hot Leather Platform Studded Sandal by Asos, £60
3. Paolo Slingback Pumps by Pedro Garcia, £245

Question 2: It might still be grey out, but I’m ready to start sunglass hunting. I’m looking for something cool, young, and trendy. Do you know of any good places I can go to look?

Answer: I’m in love with Super’s new tye-dye sunglasses. You can purchase them at luisaviaroma.com. Also,  American apparel and Marc by Marc Jacobs always have an array of super fun and trendy options.

1. Tye-Dye Sunglasses by Super, £108
2. Mod 101 Sunglasses by American Apparel, £49
3. Tortoise Shell Sunglasses by Marc by Marc Jacobs, £90

Question 3: I’m a business professional and my job commands me to be wearing a suit everyday. I’m so bored with the mundane colors and classic cuts though. Is there any possible way I can spice up my wardrobe but still look professional?

Answer: Where there’s a will, there’s always a way! I love Topshop blazers because they all look very professional but add unique cuts and flair to it. Their Puppytooth ruche sleeve blazer or Shawl collar boyfriend blazer are two perfect, affordable options. If you’re going for comfort, try Kova&T’s Elaine blazer.

Answer: Wide leg trousers are attractive on even the most unique shape bodies. Phase Eight’s Fleet pinstripe linen trouser is a personal favorite. You can also give this season’s cropped pant a try with Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania silk trousers.
