This summer The Woman in Black celebrates its 23th birthday in the West End. The show has terrified, gripped and excited over 7 million people. The Woman in Black is also committed to the silver screen courtesy of Hammer Productions this year, so there is no better time to familiarize yourself with Susan Hill’s chilling text.
Antony Eden and Patrick Drury in star in THE WOMAN IN BLACK Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt From the novel by Susan Hill at the Fortune Theatre. The production is Directed by Robin Herford, Designed by Michael Holt and with hugely inventive Lighting by Kevin Sleep. Stephen Mallatratt’s production has been unanimously acclaimed by the critics. The combination of the power and intensity of live theatre with the cinematic noir quality inherent to the book creates a formula that provides audiences with an evening of unremitting drama, terror and tension and transports them into a terrifying and ghostly world. The cast includes captivating performances from Antony Eden and Patrick Drury although ham does come to mind in some of the more self referential parts of the play. All in all this is a truly frightening piece of stage theatre exacerbated by the cramped and unsettling Fortune Theatre.
Missing this production will haunt you!
