Tom Ford Azure Lime

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Tom Ford Azure Lime

£115
Tom Ford reinforces his dominance as the master of the sophisticated. The relaxed elegance conjured in Azure Lime is bewitching, the citrus of the lime is paired with heavier notes of woody musk. I’m not sure if it’s possible to bottle confidence but Tom ford has certainly got damn close. Wear whatever you like as long as you’re wearing Tom Ford’s Azure Lime. A steal at just £115.

Shwood Sunglasses

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

These unusual, provocative Shwood sunglasses are a versatile and practical work of art. What truly separates Shwood sunglasses from other products on the mark is the hardwood they are skilfully carved from.  There are currently two Shwood lines available the Canby and the Govy. The Canby is a uncluttered and simplistic design that leaves a memorable impression where as the Govy offers a  frame more akin to a trendy, futuristic 80’s look.

Each pair of Shwood’s sunglasses are skilfully handcrafted in order to fully realise the unique, bespoke qualities of the natural materials used.

Coloured soles

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

Bright colours are back. We’ve already experienced colour blocking when it comes to clothes this year but this a much more subtle take on the popular trend. Whether you prefer calm collected colours like tan or outgoing neon colours there is a shoe suited for everyone. Who knew that simply changing the colour on the sole of footwear could be so pleasing to the eye. If you cannot find a colour that you like you may even get handy and do it yourself with a small alteration of spray paint.

Sperry, Rockport Canvas and K Swiss are a selection of lines in which have integrated this trend ready for Spring/Summer 2012. Coloured soles have most commonly been found on casual shoes in the past rather than dress shoes but not a problem. Classic dress shoes have come to our attention with popping coloured soles so variation can be supplied throughout your wardrobe wears.

If you want to pull off a suit and coloured sole dress shoes then simply compliment the colour of the sole with accessories. May this be a pocket square or accents on the tie not making it match in an obvious way. Casual shoes can be found in brogues to desert boots so can be worn with chinos, to corduroys to chinos. I recommend chinos as they will dry faster in the wetter weather that we are receiving.

Fetish

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Skin tight shiny leather, PVC, rubber; all midnight black. I call it dark…mysterious.

Intriguing by passers making them think who is that trendy fashion goddess?

Fashion has publicly turned sexy. If I say thigh skimming leather hot pants and your heart is racing; cheeks rosy in anticipation then my deed is done. It’s time to release your inner racy wild chick and obey this “taboo” trend. The fetish look is perfect to wear for any occasion whether just a trip Christmas shopping or a night out after a long day at work.

Tame your look into shape with pieces like lace to lace ups, latex to waist cinching belts, sheer to leather along with metallic trimmings. These looks were practised on the Autumn/Winter 2011 runways from the likes of Louis Vuitton with raunchy black stockings and French designer Thierry Mulger showcasing high waisted half sheer hot pants.

Without looking as if you just stepped off a Broadway show of Chicago you must subtly place your outfits together. A top tip if baring the bottom half is to cover the top and vice versa. This stops the look looking too sultry.

Here I have teamed ideas for two occasions in order for you to practise this trend.

For the office:

Collarless cropped black jacket  or Pussy bow shirt

Crisp white shirt  or Slim leg black leather trousers

Knee length black leather pencil skirt   or Suede ankle boots

Waist cinching black belt  or Long gothic pendant necklace

For a night on the town:

Leather black dress (New LBD)  or Black leather shorts

Ankle skimming platform boots or Dark red silk Vest

Selection of Crucifix inspired rings or Boyfriend fit blazer

Killer red lipstick or Black platform heels

Perfect materials for winter the fetish trend has appeared just in time for us all but one query from Macs…is the fetish trend ready for what you have in store?

Blow everyone away.

Corduroy

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

Welcoming winter with open arms needn’t be a worry. You will be able to do this in a preppy manner with rich thermal classics that lead back in fashion to over two centuries ago.

With inspiration from the al fresco elements of the British farmlands, hunting and urbane gatherings; Corduroy trousers are a must!

You can still incorporate the colourful elements from your summer wardrobe with a parade of earthly tones such as jewelled tones blues, reds, mustard and greens.

Pair with a slim fit crisp shirt and blazer for a smart ensemble, but if you want to opt for a more casual look go for fitted graphic t shirts or cable knits. Not only are they created within trouser form but corduroy detailing has started to appear on shirts and jackets also. Wearing bright colour corduroy may be difficult so the best thing to do is to wear the same colour all over; mix the shade/tone to create a balance. Playing with texture can also direct all eyes to you; team with leather and suede pieces. To be honest suede is not really suitable for the wet weather; best to save this for dryer days to in case you ruin your suede and to save money on dry cleaning. Hopefully you have warmed to this trend, stepping into winter foot first with your new fresh approach.

Autumn colours

Monday, September 19th, 2011

As we are transitioning from summer into autumn not only do the leaves on the trees change so do the fashions. So, instead of a bringing you the latest men’s A/W 2011 clothing trend I’m switching it up and bringing you three of the latest colour hue trends for fall.

1. BURNT

If you are one to stand out, this option should be ideal for you. You may have already have items buried in the back of your wardrobe that you have neglected. Now is the time to dig them back out. S/S ‘11 was the one for vibrant colours and colour blocking, but now it’s time to put your hand on that colour switch and take it down a notch. Carlos Campos has shaped his fall collection with burnt orange toned pieces with full suits and a diversity of different shoes. D&G have as well stepped up to the plate contributing burnt toned slim fit corduroy trousers along with white on brown high-tops. There are no limits when it comes to fashion. The easiest colours that you will discover in stores this season will sit between the hues of red and yellow; olive and deep browns may also be included in this colour palette. Zara have already started to recruit burnt coloured clothing into their men’s A/W 2011 collection.

2. PURPLE/NEUTRAL

Neutrals have been in style for the past year and hit off very well, not just on the runway but with high street store sales aswell. So instead of abandoning all your previous items from summer; partner with purple items to make them contrast, stand out and POP! This colour may be hard to find in high street stores so you might have to search higher and a bit lower then usual. The search will be worth it in the end as by the time this colour hits the conventional stores you will already be a trend ahead.

3. MIDNIGHT BLUE/GREY/SILVER

Midnight blue is a classic classy colour to play and experiment with; steering away from the safe black option. This colour goes with nearly every other colour as it is black’s cooler more outgoing sibling. To make the midnight blue stand out team it against silver/grey accents; this  may be accessories or this could simply apply to small details such as buttons on your clothing or even belt buckles. This colour can be transitioned from both day to night; midnight blue/navy leather is a must!

Loose Fit Trousers

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

Autumn is arriving but are you ready? Are you prepared?

If the answer is no then no worries, we are here with a helping hand. We want you to be excited about the cold weather as you can arrive to your destinations wearing the relaxed yet manly loose fit trouser. As the leaves from the trees fall loose here is your chance to let loose too …but I’m not talking going commando.

Rules apply to this trend as you don’t want to end up being mistaken for krusty the clown or Chris Brown at the 2011 BET Awards with silly oversized trousers. The simple trick is for the loosest material to be around the thigh and crotch area and rest to be fitted. Whether going to work or having a day out to beach you can find them in different fabrics and cuts. From denim to tweed or ankle length, cuffed, sportswear or shorts for the occasional warm day.

To achieve the casual look without resembling a hip hop artist with the unnecessary bagginess of the trousers layer with t-shirts and even jumpers or cardigans if you intending to cover up.

If you desire to opt for a smarter look you can choose more subtle and classy textures and fabrics such as tweed, waxed effect or even a suede effect. Team with a crisp shirt and blazer. If you want to go the extra mile mix match the texture of your chosen jacket against your trousers. Power and sharpness will feed through your carefully put together look.

Plaid

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

Creating a statement is most important if you want to put your mark on what fashion is made to be.

This print along with tartan, houndstooth and many more check prints seem like a revival of vintage for the male. The man has always been stereotypically known to wear suits for business, by mixing texture in with what could be a plain outfit it helps create a character and help shy away from normality. Sherlock Holmes followed this trend with his famous cape and hat and so did lumberjacks with their trade mark lumberjack print made more popular as quoted by Biggie Smalls.

Collections with more luxurious prints featured are D&G and some collections by the late Alexander McQueen.  The looks were safely created to bring out the inner grunge which had been heavily inspired by the eighties punk decade. If the print is in a grey monotone then wearing head to toe plaid would not seem over the top.

Given this print is not just for suits; shirts, jackets and even fabric accessories such as ties come into the conclusion. The audience of the Milan and Paris fashion weeks were more than impressed and hopefully will soon dominate high street stores for the new autumn/winter stock.

So, take a trip to your local shopping centre, visit your favourite online store and check it out.

Boat Shoes

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Are you tired of your footwear? Looking for a new pair of shoes to go with literally anything? Then look no further Macs as always has the answer, Boat Shoes are officially the perfect fashion for your feet.

Who said boat shoes were just for sailors and Carlton Banks? From runway to the high street; guys of all generations are rocking them worldwide with confidence.

This proves that some items simply NEVER go out of fashion. These classic preppy dress shoes can be worn both day and evening whether going to the beach, shopping or partying. They come in many styles, colours and textures so there is almost certainly a boat shoe out there that is perfect for you.

I suggest investing in a pair from a good brand such as Vans, Lactose, Nike or Converse. With the fragile stitching (coupled with the amount of wear you’re bound to get from them!) you really do get what you pay for with a boat shoe. Even Kanye West has jumped on the wagon (Or should I say yacht …) with an inspired collection; sporty yet preppy. The man himself has been spotted wearing them with a grey plaid suit along with a muted cream shirt. Another celebrity wearing them is Pharrell Williams, he wore suede green/brown Sperry top sider boat shoes with denim, so  for more casual inspiration, he is the one to keep your eye on. For a smarter look Designer Erdem Moralioglu fit the bill at the Martin Margiela Exhibit. He shows that this is a trend which can be worn with maturity too.

The trick is to wear them with the right type of trousers. Straight legs are most suited as they balance out the slimness of the shoe. You can find affordable styles in high street stores like Schuh, Office and ASOS.

There it is guys; this is a trend NOT to miss. Explore, experiment and show the world that the ultimate fashionisto has arrived.

Summer Style

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Summer is finally here and it’s time to give those ankles an airing.

This year however its beachwear with a difference, the trick is to add a bit of uptown glamour to your board shorts wardrobe.

Men should to take their tips from superstars such as Kanye West and Jay – Z this summer adding dressed up touches like ties and dinner shirts to dress down shorts like chinos.

Bright colours such as those we mentioned last months are back with a vengeance.

As we can’t trust the ‘great British weather’ try teaming a bright blue sweater with a shirt, tie and long shorts for the perfect on trend look.

The preppy look sported by American rich boys as seen on the OC and 90210 is perfect for this season. Look at designers such as Ralph Lauren to find out how to pull off the look. If you’re feeling really on point why not add a cheeky bow tie, only the truly cool can carry one of those off.

The length of the shorts is important, just above the knee or just below, never crop jeans and NEVER short shorts as seen on footballers in the ‘60s.

So there you have it, bright colours and cool touches are what every man needs this summer, Sophisticated beach glam.

Milan Fashion week

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

It’s official, big bold prints for men are a must for this season. Think Danish electro pop star and you’ll be along the right lines. It takes a brave man to don a pair of brightly coloured paisley trousers as seen on the Eto catwalk at Milan Fashion week, but there are subtler ways of injecting fashionable colour into your wardrobe.

A signature hat or belt for example. These items will serve the practical use of saving embarrassing head and builders bum burn in the sun, as well as bringing your wardrobe up to date. Choose bright florescent blues and greens and if you’re feeling really brave why not go for a bright pink? It’s fashion I promise you.

River Island has embraced the bright colour trend and features loads of great gingham print shirts to keep you looking cool in the heat.

If you loved the trend for cosy Christmas jumpers, then look no further than the high street for inspiration on how to bring that trend into the summer months. Topman offers a great collection of geometric patterned Ts very reminiscent of those granddad jumpers we all grew to love in the snow.

And what about the feet? Gladiator sandals are this season’s must have for men. A welcome change from sweaty feet in your converse I’m sure. So embrace your inner emperor and team your shorts with gladiators this summer to be bang on trend.
